Now you can add subs and ask an AI to narrate a video for you.
Ever dreaded the thought of recording a video presentation because of your self-consciousness or cringed hearing your own voice?
The fear of being on camera, hearing your own voice, or stumbling over words can be enough to deter you from even attempting to create content in this format.
But what if there was a way to eliminate these self-imposed barriers and create professional-grade video presentations without the anxiety using AI?
Well, that’s exactly what this new AI-powered app called VideoPlus Studio does.
VideoPlus Studio is a free web app tool from AITransformer that enables users to add, edit, and translate subtitles for videos into multiple languages. A key feature is the ability to assign a presenter profile to each subtitle. These presenter profiles allow you to set language and voice properties to convert the text into realistic speech. You can also associate an image with the profile to generate an avatar that lip syncs the speech.
How cool is that? I am intrigued with the idea of having a talking avatar overlayed on top of a video.
Head over to the VideoPlus Studio dashboard and create an account. Once logged in, you will see the dashboard with a sample project.
Feel free to edit and play around with this sample project to explore the various features. For this example, I will create a new project from scratch.
I did a screen recording to showcase an AI news magazine called Zeniteq. Now, what I wanted to do is have a narration and subtitle for the video.
First, create a new project by clicking on the “New” button and upload your video. The pre-created subtitle file is optional if you already have it.
Next, add the script that will be narrated by the AI later on. Make sure to adjust the subtitle’s start time to stay in sync with the video file.
Now, to add a presenter you can either create a custom presenter or choose from the default ones. There are two default presenters, one with a male voice and one with a female voice.
There are a rich number of customization options when creating a new presenter. You can upload your own voice recording so the AI will copy your own voice. There’s also an ability to upload your own face to be used as an avatar.
To switch between the presenters, toggle the dropdown menu on the right side of each subtitle. For this example, I will stick to the default male presenter.
Since the video can be lengthy, there is no simple way to preview the final product. So to be able to see the final result, what you have to do is click on the “Task” button.
On the next screen, adjust the settings of the video and click the “Submit” button.
After your task is processed, you’ll be notified by email about the outcome, then you can open the task window and find it in the task history, use the download button to download the resulting video.
Back on the Task list screen, you’ll see the video is ready for download.
Here’s another example non-English trailer video that’s been remade with English scripts.
Here are some possible use cases I can think of:
These are just a few examples in many other areas where this tech can be used.
VideoPlus Studio is free to use. You can choose to upgrade to a paid plan if you need a higher quota. You can also cancel at any time.
Note: If you don’t find a plan meeting your needs, please contact the VideoPlus Studio creators to discuss other options.
Here are several ideas I wish the developers will implement in the future:
Overall, I had a lot of fun editing and seeing an AI generated narrator for my videos. Although the quality of the output is still “robotic”, it’s a good start.
There are many other apps out there that solves similar problem like Synthesia or D-ID, but the main focus of VideoPlus Studio is it’s ability to add customizable voices and avatars to existing videos.
I hope whatever I listed on the “What’s next?” section above will get implemented by the creators soon. Also, I hope the quality of the audio will sound more human like the ones generated by ElevenLabs.
Nevertheless, I enjoy reviewing products like this by indie devs because I know, as an indie developer myself, knows how difficult it is to compete with the tech giants. Talking about their products on my platform is the best I can do support them.
Besides that, I think the current app looks great and I am excited to see where AITransformer team takes this product.
