Google has been investing heavily in developing new AI tools for learning. From AI Test Kitchen to the impressive NotebookLM and the recently launched Illuminate, they’re clearly focused on transforming how we learn.

Now, they’ve introduced another learning tool called “Learn About.

This AI-powered platform promises a more engaging, accessible way to dive into a wide range of topics, helping users explore knowledge dynamically and interactively.

What is Learn About?

“Learn About” feels like a hybrid between the Gemini chatbot and NotebookLM. When you visit the website, you’ll see a large prompt field where you enter the topic you’d like to learn about.

For example, if you enter the prompt:

How to run LLMs locally?

You’ll get this result:

The AI responds with a structured answer, and you can keep the conversation going by asking follow-up questions like:

Prompt: “What are the data privacy implications of running LLMs locally versus in the cloud?”

At first glance, you might think it’s similar to what Gemini or NotebookLM can do, but “Learn About” has a few unique features that set it apart.

If you enter the same prompt in Gemini, this is the response you’ll get:

It’s just plain text with links to sources. Learn About, on the other hand, added related content that was similarly focused more on learning than simply offering facts and definitions.

What Makes “Learn About” Different?

The first thing that’s unique to this new learning tool is its interactive learning approach.

Unlike typical AI chatbots, which just list facts or steps, this tool is designed to guide you through complex concepts using interactive modules.

For example, if you were to ask it something technical like, “How do I install the necessary software and LLM model on my computer?” the response wouldn’t just be a dry list of steps.

Instead, “Learn About” provides an interactive, step-by-step walkthrough.

And it doesn’t stop there—this tool gamifies the learning experience, generating quizzes and hands-on exercises to reinforce what you’ve learned.

Since we’re used to having personalized conversations with AI assistants, the user experience feels interactive and engaging. Complex ideas are explained through interactive guides, images, videos, and articles, making learning more fun and simple.

The user-friendly platform lets people upload their own materials and explore curated topics that match their personal learning goals.

By pulling from reliable sources and offering tools that make it easy to go as deep or broad as you like, “Learn About” becomes more than just an educational resource—it's a hub for inspiration.

How to Access “Learn About”?

Right now, Learn About is only available in selected regions. If you try to access the sign-up page and get the following message, it means it’s not available in your country.

Final Thoughts

It’s great to see Google speeding up their pace with new releases, especially with tools like NotebookLM and now “Learn About.” This tool looks perfect for students and teachers, especially those who want to create learning courses or materials for their students.

It’d be awesome if Google took it further, letting people build full-on interactive courses or maybe even create materials like Anki cards straight from the platform.

From what I can tell, I don’t think this tool will have the same impact as NotebookLM, but it’s cool to see Google experimenting with new ideas. Once it’s fully available, it’ll be interesting to see how people actually use it.

Have you tried this tool yet? If so, share your thoughts in the comments—I'd love to know what you think!
